Since May 2002 I have a lung disease called Bronchiolitis Obliterans Organizing Pneumonia, BOOP for short. To discover this disease, I needed some CT scans, a bronchoscopy , bronchoalveolar lavage and a laparoscopic surgery. I have been on a corticosteroid therapy getting Medrol since and this keeps me up. In better periods with less cough and more oxygen in the blood (higher diffusion capacity), I take less cortisone, in worse periods with more cough en lesser oxygen in the blood (lower diffusion capacity), I take more cortisone. |

In Aug.2007 doctors discovered ITP (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura) on me. ITP is an autoimmune disease. I got this ITP after a serious pneumonia and a long antibiotics therapy. It's possible that I have this ITP since my BOOP in 2002. ITP is a lesser known blood disease of which a permanent shortage of thrombocytes (platelets) are the symptoms. As treatment I got high amounts corticosteroid (48mg/day Medrol), IVIG (immunoglobulin), Rituximab, oncovin (Chemotherapy), thrombocytes transfusions and again -even higher amounts as before- of cortisone (64mg/day Medrol). After that (feb.2008) WinRho (immunoglobulin) and then I got again end oct.2008 IVIG (immunoglobulin) AGAIN. Last medicine now is from the first week nov.2008 Imuran 50 (3x/day). I also take up till today aug. 2011, Medrol 7 mg/day. I advice you all to try the freeze dried watercress capsules or the deep frozen watercress tablets from CRESSANA on your left. With ITP high amounts of vitamins C are required. Watercress is a calorie low vegetable and is rich on iron, calcium, potassium, iodine, vitamin A, C and E. The Hematology department of the university hospital in Ghent even advised me to take this watercress juice for its high amounts potassium. You will feel yourself a lot stronger and better, using this watercress tablets. |

In Nov. 2007 I also got secondary glaucoma. Glaucoma is too much (high) intra ocular pressure inside the eyeballs. This from the high amounts of corticosteroid (Medrol) that I'm getting for the ITP and the BOOP. When lowering the corticosteroid, the pressure in the eyeballs reduces. For this eye problem I use now Travatan . Before this I got Combigan (5ml) eye drops. End before that, Lumigan 0,3mg/ml and I started with Betoptic eye drops. The glaucoma is now aug. 2011 at 20. Highest was a 34 pressure in Nov.2007. |
